Our Robot
A quicker, safer, more ‘human’ service for all our patients
Our robot is about people, and this may come as a bit of a surprise, but Concord Pharmacy brought in a robot to improve the human contact between our pharmacist and our patients. In most pharmacies the pharmacist spends a lot of time processing prescriptions when they could be doing much more for patients by talking to them. Bringing in a robot who never tires or loses concentration and who can pick a packet of capsules off a shelf in less than ten seconds, frees up that time for the pharmacist to be talking with patients and helping them get the most from their medication. We want to offer you the most personal service possible.
The NHS Electronic Prescription Service links the General Practice computer system with the Pharmacy computer system, which produces significant improvements in service for the patient, as well as efficiencies for both pharmacy and GP, but add in a robot and the opportunities for human error in picking prescriptions is almost eliminated. In 2016 England’s Chief Pharmaceutical Officer Keith Ridge said community pharmacists had a “professional obligation” to adopt automated dispensing because research showed “the level of error is reduced to a tiny fraction of current manual dispensing error rates”. So with that sort of patient benefit it is not surprising that Concord Pharmacy has got a robot to help out. We want to provide you with the safest possible service.
